Reflections from the IPIHD India Study Tour

The IPIHD India Study Tour was held earlier this month in Bangalore and Hyderabad. We are very excited to share our key takeaways and lessons learned, so stay tuned for a future post with more detail. But for now, here are a few initial reports to share.

For those who have not heard, the Study Tour provides the opportunity to view, up close, the operations of innovative health enterprises within the IPIHD Network.  Over the course of four days, participants visited and witnessed innovation in healthcare firsthand at four IPIHD Network organizations:  Narayana Health, Vaatsalya, LV Prasad Eye Institute, and LifeSpring Hospitals.

Background reading on the tour can be found here.  Thank you, NextBillion for publishing!

Each daily site visit began with an operational overview of the organization and was followed by in-depth presentations from senior leadership, a facilitated tour, and collaborative discussions of the innovative practices implemented by these healthcare delivery models.

The Study Tour offered interesting and exciting takeaways for each of the tour participants and, as noted, the IPIHD team is eager to share more about the overall experience in the next couple of weeks.  In the meantime we’d like to feature three enlightening posts written by Jo Bibby, a tour participant, and the Director of Strategy at the Health Foundation, on her reflections after visiting innovators Narayana Health and LV Prasad Eye Institute.
