We Care Solar envisions a world where mothers and newborns are delivered safely in health centers equipped with clean, reliable power. Globally, >100,000 health facilities lack reliable electricity, compromising the ability of providers to conduct safe and timely medical procedures. Health workers struggle in near darkness to provide life-saving care.

We Care Solar developed a compact, rugged Solar Suitcase to provide health facilities with medical-surgical lighting, energy-efficient medical devices, and charging capacity for phones and other devices using clean reliable solar power. Their programs build local capacity in solar installation, operation, and servicing.

We Care Solar’s “Light Every Birth” initiative calls for clean energy for safe childbirth at that national level. More than 6,250 Solar Suitcases have been installed worldwide, with countrywide programs in Liberia, Uganda, Zimbabwe and Sierra Leone.
