Karen arrived at the Fuqua School of Business after spending several years living abroad in Burundi and Ethiopia working in international development, primarily with USAID and USAID-funded projects. The experience inspired her to explore disruptive innovations happening at the intersection of business and social impact and is what brought her to Fuqua and Innovations in Healthcare. Karen was born in Brazil, but grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio. Her studies led her to American University in Washington, D.C. with two experiences abroad in the Czech Republic and Costa Rica so she could learn Spanish, in addition to her Portuguese and French skills. Here at Fuqua, Karen is a second year cabinet member for the Net Impact and Design+Innovations clubs, and already in her time here she has worked on two consulting projects in India and one in Durham, all with health-related social enterprises. She enjoys helping organizations navigate messy problems and develop solutions that lead to growth and impact.
